Procedure Text: Pengertian

Jangan sampai mimin jelasin panjang kali lebar sampai berbusa-busa tapi kalian ga paham apa itu teks prosedur. Kalian pasti pernah kan membaca petunjuk penggunaan baik itu di kemasan makanan atau mainan? Misalnya nih:

Cara membuat tempe goreng

1. Iris tempe sesuai selera

2. Rendam ke dalam bumbu

3. Diamkan sepuluh menit

4. Goreng dengan minyak panas

Nah itu tadi sudah mewakili procedure text lho! Jadi, procedure text merupakan teks yang berisikan perintah atau langkah-langkah dalam mengerjakan sesuatu. Dengan kata lain, procedure text  dibuat untuk memberi gambaran bagaimana sesuatu dilakukan melalui langkah yang berurut.

Judul procedure text biasanya sangat mudah dikenali. Umumnya diawali dengan kata “How to…” misalnya how to make banana cake.

Ciri-ciri Procedure Text

Biar kalian mudah meneliti apakah suatu teks itu isinya prosedur atau tidak, cek ciri-cirinya dulu ya!

– Menggunakan imperative sentence (kalimat perintah).

Contoh: blend together, cook with low heat, add two spoon of sugar, dan lainnya. Kalau untuk penggunaan alat biasanya diawali dengan “turn the remote on”.

– Menggunakan present tense.

Tidak ada ding istilahnya menggunakan past tense atau future. Gunakan yang sekarang karena kalian akan memakai sekarang.

– Menggunakan action verbs.

Contoh: add, put, turn.

– Menggunakan numbering.

Contoh: first, second, third. Ini adalah ciri yang paling gampang dikenali. Karena prosedur itu harus sesuai urutan, ya ga?

– Menggunakan conjunctions (kata penghubung). Walaupun praktikny memang tidak selalu sih apalagi jika sudah ada nomornya.

Contoh: next, then, while.

– Menggunakan adverbs (kata keterangan) untuk memperjelas tahapan yang dilalui. Contoh: correctly, carefully, slowly, for 2 minutes, dsb.

Jenis

Hmmm ternyata jenisnya ada bermacam-macam tapi kita cukup tau tiga saja nih. Mereka adalah:

a. Procedure text yang memaparkan cara mengoperasikan/menggunakan sesuatu.

Misalnya how to use a radio, how to use smart mobile phone.

b. Procedure text yang memberikan instruksi dalam melakukan kegiatan tertentu.

Misalnya how to play piano, how to make a banana cake.

c. Procedure text yang berkaitan dengan kiat-kiat menjalani hidup.

Misalnya how to be successful in life, how to be yourself.

Isi Dari Procedure Text

Ada beberapa konten yang wajib ada dalam procedure text. Apa saja yang harus ada?

• Goal/Aim : berisikan maksud dan tujuan dari procedure text terkait.
• Ingredients : berisikan bahan-bahan yang diperlukan untuk melakukan tahapan suatu procedure text. Selain kata ingredients, kamu juga bisa menggunakan kata materials. Jadi tergantung konteksnya ya.
• Steps : langkah-langkah yang berurutan untuk menyelesaikan tahapan procedure text. Untuk menunjukkan langkah, biasanya menggunakan angka atau kata-kata seperti, first, second, finally, dll
• Result : hasil dari proses atau langkah-langkah yang telah dilakukan. Biasanya memang berlaku pada pembuatan suatu produk sehingga ada hasilnya. Tapi untuk kasus lain selain produk umumnya tidak berlaku adanya result secaara lebih bermakna.
